One of the first projects we became involved in was the packing and distribution of comfort packs for survivors of sexual abuse. C.O.N.E.C.K.T bought hygiene products and packed 500 comfort packs for The Angel Network and we distributed these to Teddy Bear Clinic the Women, Men Against Child Abuse.

This project created temporary employment for several people and will in future be done through protected employment workshops.

As with all the projects  C.O.N.E.C.K.T has been involved in there were positive spin offs  such as connecting with Alta McMaster of the Epic Foundation. Through this meeting we discovered that Epic Foundation are also involved in the same initiative. Through our efforts we coneckted all the other organisations involved in donating comfort packs for people in need and to share their learnings and to improve the logistics. We also received a donation of hygiene products.

At the same meeting, in typical C.O.N.E.C.K.T  fashion Naomi met with Clair Duvel and from Kindness Like Confetti who told her about their need for soft toys. Subsequently at a meeting with Autism SA Naomi discovered that ASA had soft toys to donate – it was a match made in heaven. And on the same day Naomi delivered a bagful of soft toys for their comfort packs.

The donation from Epic meant we had lower costs for the rape packs and could make more.  Also it meant some money could go towards paying an org or person to pack them and create some employment and purpose. Also so angel network didn’t have to be awake til 3am in their own garage packing these. Silas and his wife were paid for packing those.

This picture is where the journey began the donating from charity to charity is beautiful and worth documenting, the beauty of sharing. Epic Foundation gets a massive donation of body wash and shampoo and even though they could have kept it or sold it they offered some to other NGOs that pack these, this is where I meet Claire from kindness like confetti
