CONECKT at Kingsmead college
CONECKT together with Hi-Hopes (Claudine Storbeck) and Autism SA (Vicky Lam) facilitated a session on disability awareness. Each grade spent an hour learning more about different disabilities. The girls learned some South African Sign Language, more about autism, and did a few activities to bring to light a few of the difficulties people with disabilities face. After the sessions, all 700 girls came into the hall and CONECKT staff played the famous Money of the Box game show with them. The prizes under the box were the beautiful products made by all our amazing beneficiaries and NGO's. [...]

AIM Centre and FNB volunteers CONECKT-ing
CONECKT was approached by FNB volunteers regarding money that they had raised doing their #fitfin challenge. AIM center in Kensington was looking for food and entertainment for its 35 beneficiaries. CONECKT together with FNB gave the beneficiaries an exciting Money or the Box show where everyone had to answer a question and if they got it right, got to choose if they wanted the money or the mysterious prize under the box. The prizes were either donated or hand made by other NGOs. Boerewors rolls and ice- cream ended the day with smiles all round. Thank you FNB for [...]
CONECKT and the market at FNB Fairlands
CONECKT is all about the win-win. The NGOs that had made the various products on sale had already benefitted from their interaction with CONECKT. These eco-friendly hand made items were then showcased and sold at FNB Fairlands to the staff. The prices are always super reasonable and there is a story behind every product. The staff assisting on the day of the sale are people with disabilities, people who had made some of the products, and the youth from YES 4 YOUTH initiative. This was used as training for these individuals in terms of business, sales, profit, and loss. [...]
CONECKT facilitating Valentine’s day at Forest Farm Centre
CONECKT was asked by Social worker Bulelwa if we knew of any affordable entertainment options available for the beneficiaries of Forest Farm. Most of the residents there are limited in their movement due to Cerebral Palsy. Many activities are not appropriate for them and most entertainment is usually way out of budget for organizations like these. CONECKT as a show of good faith sent in our staff to do their version of WAKA WAKA and the residents were the judges. After the show, CONECKT staff spent the rest of the time talking to and dancing with the residents. The [...]
